đź“‹ Instructions
Having chosen a target lesson style in the previous assignment, you’ll practise and refine your production process by creating some test content.
Note: If you’ve chosen to create “blog-style” (i.e., text-based) lessons for your course, you can skip this assignment.
👣 Steps
To complete this assignment you’ll need to:
- Set up your simple production “studio” by getting the necessary hardware and software working together. (If you’re following the lesson style taught in Quick Course Videos, the “Recording Your Video” module should be very helpful.)
- Record a short test clip, e.g., 1-2 minutes of talking head video or narrated slideshow (with or without webcam).
- Review your results and adjust your production process as necessary.
đź’ˇ Tips
Here are some additional notes to keep in mind:
- For this assignment, the process is more important than the content. This means:
- If you’re creating a talking head video, you can just read from a news article or talk about some familiar aspect of your course topic.
- If you’re creating a narrated slide deck, create two or three “dummy” slides with a handful of bullet points to read from.
- To begin with, try to make use of any equipment or software you already have instead of buying new equipment.
- Be prepared for a learning curve and a few technical frustrations before finding your content creation groove. This is completely normal and things become easier (and even enjoyable!) with a little time and patience.
