đź“‹ Instructions
In this assignment you’ll give some thought to how you’ll find people from your target market to buy your course.
There are two phases to this:
- Recruiting students for your beta launch
- Recruiting students for the first full launch
Remember, you’re not devising a comprehensive strategy here, just starting to think about the tactics you’ll use to find the right people and what existing relationships and resources you can draw upon.
Note: This assignment will also give you some ideas about what you can start doing now to make things easier when you come to promote your course.
👣 Steps
To complete this assignment you’ll need to:
- Make a list of your existing connections and resources that could help to find your first few students. For instance: contacts in your address book, followers on social media, connections on LinkedIn, subscribers to your email list (if you have one), your business’s existing prospect database, online groups you run or belong to, and so on.
- Review the Launch Promotion Tactics resource from the previous lesson (copied below) alongside your connections and resources.
- Pick at least one tactic for your beta launch and one for your first full launch that feel realistic for finding students from your target market.
👇 Examples
Here are some examples of completed recruitment strategies:
Example #1
- “For my beta launch I’ll rely on my existing LinkedIn network and have 1:1 conversations until I have found the students I need.”
- “For my full launch I’ll continue to build my audience on LinkedIn and reach out to potential customers individually.”
Example #2
- “For my beta launch I’ll promote my course to the 200+ subscribers on my existing mailing list.”
- “For my full launch I’ll partner with well-connected people in my industry who’ll promote my course to their audiences for a commission.”
Example #3
- “For my beta launch I’ll promote my course within a busy Facebook Group that I help to run whose members are a good match for my target market.”
- “For my full launch I’ll create a simple marketing funnel and use targeted Facebook ads to drive traffic to a sign-up page for a free download.”
