Minimise the risk of interruption
- Tell people you’re recording
- Remove your doorbell batteries
- Put a sign on your door and close it
- Switch your phone (or phones!) to silent
- Shut down non-essential apps on your computer
Prepare your recording environment
- Load your screen capture app and remind yourself how to start and stop recording
- Check the audio/video settings and make sure the right sources are selected
- Check your video framing and your audio levels (no peaking)
- Adjust your background/backdrop and lighting as required
Get your slides ready to go
- Open your slide deck and quickly run through the slides
- Check that your webcam video won’t obscure any crucial content
- Resize the slide deck window to the target resolution, e.g., 1280x720 or 1920x1080
- Position the slides (or speaker notes) right at the top of the screen
